Innovations in the hospitality industry? Is there anything apart from infrastructure improvements and the introduction of new gadgets? How about both? One significant development comes from the Swiss company SV Hotel, belonging to the SV Group, we introduce Stay KooooK, the innovative accommodation concept. The company was awarded the Hotel Innovation Award yesterday by a multi-member expert jury at the Kameha Grand Hotel in Zurich for the Swiss “Hotel Innnovations Day”.

Dübendorf, June 26, 2019 – It’s a glorious day at the SV Hotel headquarters in Dübendorf (CH), right after the prize announcement. “We’ve been working on the idea of Stay KooooK for a long time,” says Managing Director of SV Hotel, Beat Kuhn. “It’s our first own concept that we bring to the market. On this – noting the concept has prevailed against 30 other applications – we are particularly proud. »

Hans R. Amrein, publicist and member of the jury, acknowledges the winning concept as follows: “For the first time in the last twenty years, a Swiss hotel group has again developed a novel, innovative and promising concept that is not only available in Switzerland, but that can also be implemented in many other countries. Seen from this point of view, the concept Stay KooooK by SV Hotel is a kind of pioneering achievement. It includes traditional hotel offers, but meets new customer needs, is technologically innovative and economically promising »!

Redefined host

Stay KooooK combines the advantages of modern forms of accommodation into a completely new and groundbreaking offer for a new, demanding travel clientele. “It offers the ease and the cozy atmosphere of a sharing solution, without neglecting the attentive, reliable service of a hotel,” says Kuhn. In addition, the role of the host will be redefined. The “host”, as the concierge is newly named, is the personal contact person on site who attends to the guests with help and advice. He is an avid listener and has a keen sense for his guests’ concerns and desires and is well acquainted with the city and the environment. This allows him to provide tailor-made tips for the very special experiences and to connect people with each other. Intelligent room design The clever design of the houses is also remarkable: “Intelligent room design creates living space and freedom that flexibly adapts to the needs of the guests so that they can feel at home in a foreign country just as they would at home” says Kuhn. To achieve this, Stay KooooK relies on a mix of quirky local accents. Central urban locations are the focus of implementation; the first opened in 2020 in Bern, Switzerland and Nuremberg, Germany.

Against 30 different applications

More than thirty applications were received for the Hotel Innovation Award 2019. The spectrum of submitted concepts was particularly broad this year. For the first time, the innovations also targeted digital solutions. GastroSuisse and the Swiss Society for Hotel Loans (SGH) have been seeking, promoting and awarding the most promising innovation concepts of small and medium-sized hotels since 2016. Ingenious business ideas, operating concepts or projects for digitization and cooperation were what stood out. The key challenges for the Swiss hotel industry, it is said, are the rising expectations of the guests, the need for innovation and differentiation in the offer, as well as clear positioning, the increased cost pressure and the rapid development of information and communication technology. As a result, companies need to continually invest and create new operational concepts that pay off. All of which SV Hotel meets with Stay KooooK.
